Elsie Boothe Trent, 97, of Roanoke, Va. went to her heavenly home on Monday, August 14, 2023.
Elsie was a 1944 graduate of Fincastle High School. She joined Bonsack United Methodist in 1946 and enjoyed serving in numerous ways there throughout her life. She retired from Roanoke County Schools with 24 years in food service at William Byrd High School and worked part-time at H&C Coffee and in childcare at First Baptist Church in her retirement.
Elsie was a loving mother and grandmother who lived a life of deep faith and service to others. She enjoyed volunteering at Ronald McDonald House, Art on a Mission and served as caretaker for a number of family members. She enjoyed bowling in the Happy Bowlers League in Vinton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel William "Bill" Trent", parents, Henry and Rosa Boothe and thirteen older brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Trent, two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert "Bobby" and Mary Ann Trent, Barry and Nancy Trent; Grandchildren, Loretta Jessee, Peggy Hetherington (Scott), Lisa Gray (Denny), and Will Trent; ten great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren; sister -in-law, Clara Jean Summers, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family deeply appreciates the staff of Our Lady of the Valley Retirement Community for their care for Mom and us the past four years.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Oakey's East Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 19 at 2:00PM at Oakey's East Chapel with the Rev. Timothy Craft officiating. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Bonsack United Methodist Church, Roanoke Rescue Mission, or Our Lady of the Valley.
