About	James Matthew Wright Jr. went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the young age of 53. “Junior” as he was more affectionately known, was born on June 11, 1970, in Roanoke, Virginia. Junior attended William Byrd High School in Vinton, Virginia, where he was an exceptional quarterback on the football team, two-time state champion wrestler, and star baseball player. After graduating from high school, Junior joined the United States Marine Corps. During his service, Junior fought in the Gulf War in 1990. He loved his job as a maintenance technician. He also loved to go fishing, fix cars, ride dirt bikes, listen to music, and watch all types of sports. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clarence and Gaynell Wright, and maternal grandparents, James Lee and Frances Taylor. Those left to cherish his memory include: his son, Kenneth Robertson; daughter, Victoria Robertson; parents, James Sr. and Frances Wright; brother, Jamar Wright; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and many friends. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023, 2:00PM at Serenity Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be held in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin, VA. Arrangements by Serenity Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
