About	Walter Benjamin "Benny" Basham Jr., 75, of Roanoke, Va., died on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. He is with his Lord and Savior. Benny was born in Roanoke on August 16, 1948. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lucille Basham and his daughter, Wendy Basham. Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Jenny Basham; son, Robert "Bob" Basham; sister, Sheila Bartlett (Jerry); a favorite aunt, Colleen Sarver and her family; and niece, Christy and her family. Benny was a graduate of William Byrd High School. He was employed as a welder for Carter Machinery for 26 years. His passion was "Old Cars." Benny loved working, rebuilding, and putting his special touch on his cars. He was actively involved with his church and his family. The family wishes to thank his caregiver, Melissa Royal, the Home-Based Primary Care with the VA, and Good Samaritan Hospice for their care and compassion. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Stutes officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made to Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, 3035 Mt. Pleasant Blvd., Roanoke, VA 24014.
