| About | Naomi Martin Jamison, 93, of Daleville, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2026. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 68 years, Vernon Jamison; and seven of her nine siblings, Raymond Martin, Harold Martin, Norma Epperly, Doris Millehan, Leona Haymaker (Naomi's twin), Betty Wood, and June Alcorn. Naomi is survived by her siblings, Wanda (Chuck) and Charlie (Pat); her children, Neal (Kristin) Jamison and Robyn (Keith) Porterfield; and two grandchildren, Evan Jamison and Andrew Porterfield. A Roanoke native, Naomi graduated from William Byrd High School before falling head over heels for her Vernon. Her sweet smile and warm presence will continue to influence how those she touched walk through life. While she treated everyone with unmatched care, nothing gave her more joy than working with children (especially babies). In retirement, she kept busy gardening and arranging flowers, sewing, and serving in many ministries in her church, all while enjoying the friendship of her neighbors at The Glebe Retirement Community. A longtime member of First Baptist Church of Roanoke, Naomi later found fellowship at Daleville Baptist Church for as long as she was able. Lasting memories of Naomi include stopping in her tracks to pluck weeds even up until her last months and her love for her Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. Above all was her commitment to providing for her children and grandchildren - even if that meant giving up some of her coffee-flavored ice cream or going out of her way to make sure the picky eater in the family had enough to eat at Thanksgiving dinner. The family will hold a celebration of life on Friday, March 13, at 11 a.m. at Daleville Baptist Church Sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to Daleville Baptist Church. |
