About Holly Caitlin Farris, 33, of Roanoke, Virginia embarked on her final journey on February 21, 2026. She was surrounded by her mom and her closest friends. Holly had a passion for travel, embracing new cultures and cuisines. She loved Disney, the Eagles, Taylor Swift, dancing and the theater. She believed whole heartily in equal rights for all persons.



Holly is a 2014 graduate of James Madison University with a Bachelor's Degree in Justice Studies with a concentration in Crime and Criminology. During her time at JMU, Holly studied abroad throughout Italy taking courses in Organized Crime and Comparative Homicide. Holly received her Juris Doctor in 2017 from Washington and Lee University School of Law where she was a Virginia Capital Case Clearinghouse clinic member who worked on multiple capital murder cases at the pre-trial, trial, and appellate levels. During her undergraduate and law school summers, Holly interned with the Roanoke City Police Department, the Roanoke City Commonwealth Attorney's Office, and the Roanoke City Public Defender's Office.



Holly is a member of the Virginia Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Salem/Roanoke County Bar Association, the Virginia Women Attorneys Association, and the Ted Dalton American Inn of Court. She is employed by OPN Law in Roanoke. Holly also volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and was a board member of Health Focus of Southwest Virginia.



Holly is a Roanoke County native and graduate of William Byrd High School. She studied dance at the Floyd Ward School of Dance from age 3 until graduation. She student taught young dancers and competed in local and national competitions through dance organizations and the Miss Virginia scholarship program, winning many awards and served as a national dance ambassador. She was thrilled to be back in the Star City serving the community she has always called home.



Holly was preceded in death by her grandparents, Douglas K. Farris and Ora P. Farris of Vinton, VA. She is survived by her mother, Bonnie Farris of Vinton, VA, a maternal aunt, Robin Bush of Sierra Vista, AZ, cousin, Donna Hall of Salem, VA, her best friends Dana Robinson and Hannah Malloy of Roanoke, VA, her OPN Law family, her beloved cat, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and numerous friends whom she loved.



A celebration of Holly's life will be held at Oakey's South Chapel on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 2pm. Prior to the service, the family will be receiving visitors at 1pm at the funeral home. The service will be live streamed for those unable to attend.



To honor Holly, you are welcome to wear something pink to the service. Donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or Lishy's Gift of Roanoke.
