| About | Charles Walter Sell, 82, of Vinton, passed away peacefully at his home on February 4, 2026. He is survived by his beloved spouse, Wanda (Susie) Cox Sell; his children, Joe (Cindy) Sell, Ben Sell, Dan (Lara) Sell, and Sarah Sell; and his grandchildren, Courtney Sell, Brad Sell, Austin Nielsen, Brycen Nielsen, Kaylee Sell, Ember Sell, and Caleb Sell. He is also survived by his brothers, Bob (Alice) Sell and Jim (Carol) Sell; his sister, Doris Dooley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Ammon and Elizabeth Sell; his brothers, Johnny Sell and Eddie Sell; and his sisters, Phyllis Wagner, Peggy Altice, June Dudley, Marie Wiley, and Helen Hicks. Born on March 24, 1943, in Vinton, Virginia, Charles was a lifelong resident and a proud member of his community. He graduated from William Byrd High School and dedicated 30 years of service as a Computer Analyst with Norfolk Southern Railway. In addition to his professional career, he honorably served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. Charles was an active and engaged individual who found great joy in playing and coaching sports and was an avid Virginia Tech fan. He also enjoyed flying kites, working puzzles, and relaxing while watching television. His commitment to service extended well beyond his career. Charles was actively involved in the Blue Ridge Lions Club and the Boy Scouts of America, and he was a regular blood donor, always giving back to others whenever possible. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice, with special appreciation to Kirsten, Jessica, and Ginger, for their compassionate care and support. |
