About Eunice Thurman Wright-Scott, affectionately also known as "Noonie", age 91, of Roanoke, peacefully went to her Heavenly home on January 31, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Patrick C. Scott. Eunice was born on August 5,1934 to the late Thomas Moody Thurman and Avie Gertrude Ferguson Thurman.

Eunice is survived by sons Brent Wright (wife Celia), Eric Wright (fiancée Nancy Schweizer) of Cary, NC; sister Iris Barton (Jack) of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren, Sarah Miller (Nick) of Raleigh, NC; Holly Wright (Mike Veal) of Angier, NC; Noah Wright (Heather) of Pike Road, AL; Emma Parker (Tyler) of Wendell, NC; Elizabeth Wright of Raleigh, NC; and 10 great grandchildren.

Eunice graduated from William Byrd High School in Roanoke in 1952 and remained in close contact with several classmates throughout her adult life, cherishing those lifelong friendships.

She was employed for many years as an Executive Secretary with Radiology Associates in Roanoke, where she took great pride in her work and truly loved the doctors that she supported. She was well known for spoiling them on birthdays and special occasions with her famous chocolate cakes.

Eunice was a longtime member of Brookhill Baptist Church. Her attendance began in childhood and joyfully resumed when she returned to Bandy Road. She especially looked forward to attending church each week alongside her sister, Iris.

Eunice's life was filled with many memorable moments and accomplishments. In 1997, she served as Commander of the Roanoke Valley Power Squadron. She was also featured on Good Samaritan Hospice billboards and ads throughout the area to help promote awareness of their services. Although she lived away from Roanoke for approximately ten years, she always longed to return to her family and friends. Those who knew Eunice knew that nothing brought her greater joy than riding her zero-turn lawn mower across her three acres - and she was quite disappointed when her doctor took her keys this past summer. Fittingly, Eunice's life came beautifully full circle as she peacefully passed away in the very home where her life began.

Eunice was truly a beautiful soul - a devout Christian who was compassionate, kind and generous. Her laughter and warm smile were infectious, and she was deeply loved by all who knew her. She will be profoundly missed.

Two of Eunice's favorite charities were St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name would be greatly appreciated.
