About	Wanda Bobbitt Cook, 75, of Hardy, Virginia, born on Friday, April 14, 1950, left this world unexpectedly on Friday, January 16, 2026, to go to her heavenly home.. She graduated in 1968 from William Byrd High School in Vinton, Virginia. She was a long-time dedicated employee of Appalachian Power, where she made many lifelong friends. Upon her retirement, Wanda took on the role of full-time caregiver for her mother with dementia, while also assisting with her mother-in-law, and others when she could. She taught Sunday School for many years at Roanoke First Church of Nazarene, when she was younger. Wanda loved to read and work on her word puzzles. She never failed to remember others birthdays and special occasions, sending greeting cards to family and friends. She also was an Elvis Presley fan. Wanda had a big tender heart and was kind to all those who crossed her path. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James R. Rucker. Left to cherish her memory and mourn her untimely passing are her loving husband of 30 years, Larry E. Cook; her brothers and sister, Roger A. Bobbitt (Debbie), Tim S. Bobbitt (Dana), Surraine B. Rucker (special friend, Gary); mother-in-law, Mary W. Cook; brother-in- laws, John Cook (Amy), Robert Cook (Christina), and Gary Rucker; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Wanda will be extremely missed by all those whose lives she touched. We begin to remember not just that she is no longer with us, but that she lived. Her life gave us many memories to beautiful to forget. A funeral service will be held at Oakey's Vinton Chapel on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 11:00 am, with Pastor Jeff Gardner officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00 pm at Franklin Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Oakey's Vinton Chapel on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
