About	Rebecca Yates Carter, 82, of Salem VA went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Rebecca was born to the late Gladys Howell Yates and Herman Sales Yates in Roanoke VA. Rebecca (Becky) graduated from William Byrd High School in 1960. Later in her life, she graduated from Roanoke Memorial Nursing school getting her LPN license and served as a nurse there. Her last employment was with Physicians to Women in Roanoke, VA where she served as a nurse to the physicians. Becky was a true Southern Lady who loved collecting antiques. She was a particularly good cook and is best known for her red velvet cakes. Becky and her late husband Stover were regularly active members at the Roanoke Rifle Range and they both enjoyed traveling and shooting in sporting clay and skeet tournaments where they both won many trophies. Becky loved being a mother to Troy and Scott Ferguson. She was also a grandmother and enjoyed the time she had with her beloved grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Becky is preceded in death by her late husband, Stover Carter of Salem, and her sister Mary Yates Ferguson Left to cherish Becky's memory are her sons, Troy Ferguson and Scott Ferguson (Pam), and her grandchildren, Logan Ferguson, Alex Ferguson, Julie Ferguson and nieces Lisa and Mitzi and her nephew Mike. A graveside service will be held in honor of Becky on Monday January 19, 2026, at 10:00 am at Sherwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Salem,
