About Carol Wright Mills, 82, of Roanoke, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 27, 2025.

Carol was a devoted and loving wife, mother, nana and grandma. She was preceded in death by her parents, V.T. and Lena Wright and her daughter, Mellony Ann Mills. She is survived by her wonderful husband of 56 years, Jim Mills. She is also survived by her two children, Mark (Sara) Mills and Stephanie (Jeff) Harris who will cherish her forever. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brittany (Shane) Calhoun, Miranda (Trevin) Whitehead, Hunter(Kattie) Mills, Bryce (Sierra) Martin, Haley (Drew) Moorman, Logan (Brooke) Mills, Brenna Mills & Chris (Jennifer) Harris. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Adelynn, Emily, Ridge, Dorothy, Liam, Sadie, Hallie, Beckett, Rob & Levi. They were all her pride & joy and she loved them very much.

Carol graduated from William Byrd High School. After graduation, she went directly into the work force. Eventually settling on a 29-year career at Oakey's Funeral Service where she established many relationships with friends and families.

She battled lung and breast cancer with a fierce courage and determination. Her supportive family and health care professionals admired her courage. She never gave up and fought to the end. Her greatest joys and accomplishments were the love of her husband, Jim as well as being a mom, nana and grandma. Her legacy is one of unyielding kindness and generosity.

Carol was a wonderful and caring person. She had an impact on all of her family, she was courageous, inspirational, strong and loving person. She enjoyed planting flowers, loved violets, spending time with her family and life long friend of 75 years, Candis Yeatts. She absolutely adored her great grandchildren who gave her many laughs and stories to tell her friends.

Carol's loss is deeply felt by her family and all those her knew and loved her. Her memory will live on and inspire strength, resilience and generosity in those whose lives she touched.
