About	Sonya Martin Mitchell, 64, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, with family by her side. Sonya was a graduate of William Byrd High School. She worked for many years in commercial and personal lines insurance at Atlantic Mutual Insurance Company and Allstate. After graduating from Virginia Western Community College, she worked as an IT specialist for Siemens and Startek, followed by Orvis, from which she retired. Sonya was a force to be reckoned with, a strong, loyal, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, Rick Mitchell; daughters Monica Cole (Troy) and Khristina Mitchell; grandchildren, Ryan, Madisen, and Bekah. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Lewis Gale Medical Center PCU in Salem, Virginia for their extraordinary care. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 from 10:00a.m. until 2:00p.m. at Oakey’s North Chapel. A private graveside service will follow.
