About Ernest Lenwood (Woody) Greene, 93, of Roanoke, VA went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 13, 2025.

Woody was born on February 14, 1932. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Alma (Shelburne) Greene. Woody was the son of James W. and Elsie (Martin) Greene who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his sister Evelyn Haga, and his 4 brothers: Kenneth Greene, Earl Greene, Paul Greene, and Wayne Greene. Woody was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Pastor Bobby Edwards, and twin grandsons, Justin Edwards and Jordan Edwards.

Surviving to continue Woody's legacy are his 2 daughters Donna (Greene) Edwards of NC and Tracey (Greene) Good of VA, son-in-law, Bob Good, and 6 grandchildren: Allison Edwards, Austin Edwards, Emily Frustol (Jason), Patrick Good (Brittany), Sydney Good, and Conner Good (Victoria). He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren: Jackson Frustol, Zander and Evelyn Good, and Lila Good.

Woody graduated from William Byrd High School in Vinton, VA and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He graduated from Roanoke College with a B.S. in Pre-Med/Biology from Roanoke College and worked as a Probation Supervisor for the City of Roanoke for more than 30 years before retiring in 1994.

Woody loved playing golf and searching for lost balls at Brookside Golf Course. But his heart was always focused on missions, evangelism, and his relationship with the Lord. He served as Elder, Deacon, AWANA Leader, and more during over 50 years of faithful membership at Shenandoah Baptist Church. Even when his memory was beginning to fail him in his later years, he could quote scripture and sing hymns to share his faith.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, July 15 at Shenandoah Baptist Church at 1pm. The family will be receiving guests at 12pm, prior to the service.
