Allen Anthony (Tony) Jones, 58, of Vinton, Va. passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Tony was a social butterfly all his life. He has been a painter, bartender, errand boy, drinking buddy, great friend, and the original Vinton Messenger to many and he will be sadly missed.

Surviving is his sister, Susan J. Sifuentes. The love of his life, Theresa Crigger. A daughter, Michelle and James Hale. One son, Jonathan and Amber Carr. And a Daughter-in-law, Melanie Smith. His grandchildren, Kristen Carr, Jordan and Emily Hale, Allex and Kaylee-Jo Carr, Joshua and Joseph Thomas and Angelina. One great grandson, Jeremiah Akers. And his “dog son”, Sir Jax. His first cousin, Elaine Boothe Sledd. Nieces, Julie (Hunter) and Bryan Bruner, Amy Jones. Great niece and nehews Adrian Jones and Hunter and Landon Bruner. His second Mom, Sharon Webb and father figure Doug Boothe. And his special friends, Melissa Thomas, Denise Boothe Bailey, Bruce and Steven Wheeler, Derek and Gina, Mike and JoJo, Mike Fleck and Charlie Stinnet.

Tony was preceded in death by his father, Randolph J. Jones, his mother, Geraldine O. Jones, a brother, Jeffrey A. Jones and a sister, Janet J. Hunter.

A funeral service will be conducted at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel at 2 pm Saturday, January 28, with his longtime friend, Pastor Al Woodie, officiating. Burial will follow in Jeters Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that food be brought on Saturday before the service to Amvets Post #40, 911 Tazewell Avenue, S.E., Roanoke, Va. 24013 for a gathering of family and friends from 5 to 6:30 pm. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel (540-982-2221). Online condolences may be expressed at www.oakeys.com
