About	Richard "Dick" Sanger McGuffin, 81, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025. Born in Roanoke, VA on August 27, 1943, he was the son of the late Robert and Lois (Sanger) McGuffin. Dick graduated from Bridgewater College and Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Dentistry. He began his career with the U.S. Army initially serving state-side followed by three years in Germany. He returned to Virginia and spent the remainder of his 30-years career as a Dentist for the Virginia Department of Health providing care to underserved, rural elementary school students and families in Augusta and Rockbridge Counties out of a mobile dentist office, and later from the VDH office in Waynesboro. Generous, compassionate, and possessing a quirky sense of humor, he was a dedicated father who enjoyed oil painting, gardening, botany, Studebakers, visiting with friends and family, and driving backroads. Dick is survived by three children, Richard McGuffin, Jr. and wife, Mary Cote, William McGuffin, and Kathleen McGuffin and husband Brian Stark; and a brother, Robert O. McGuffin, Jr. and partner Cheryl Mills. The family would like to thank everyone at VMRC–especially the staff of the Redbud neighborhood–for their exceptional care, kindness, and compassion. A Celebration of Life service and luncheon will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00am at The Granary at Valley Pike, Weyers Cave, Va.
