Ed was the center of his family, always putting others before himself, and was known as the "family counselor." He enjoyed fishing, playing racquetball, coaching Jay's sports teams, and cheering on his grandchildren in all of their endeavors. His family was the center of his life. Over the years, Ed served his church in many different capacities. He also enjoyed volunteering and substitute teaching in Roanoke City Schools, primarily working with children with special needs at Patrick Henry High School. Ed was committed to caring for Mother Earth and was a member of environmental and climate related scientific organizations. He passed down his passion for the environment to his grandchildren and students, teaching them the importance of conservation, stewardship, and sustainability. He was a graduate of William Byrd High School, Virginia Western Community College, and Roanoke College. Ed was heavily involved in sales management of electrical power equipment in Southwest Virginia and retired as a Senior Power Construction Engineer from Siemens Industries.
