Wilbur O. "Gooseberry" Smith, passed away February 16, 1990, at age 77, after a short illness.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by two brothers, Hollis and Herman Smith.

Mr. Smith will be lovingly remembered by his survivors, wife, Ruth Smith, Roanoke; two daughters, JoAnn Mott, Roanoke; Helen Herndon, Louisville, Ky.; two sons, Mike Smith and Kenneth Smith, Roanoke; four grandsons; three granddaughters; two brothers, Edgar Smith and Sonny Smith, both of Vinton; three sisters, Flora Smith, Vinton; Nora Kidd, Roanoke; Eula Sandridge, Bradenton, Fla.

Mr. Smith owned and operated an Esso Station in Vinton for 30 years but retired from the Washington, D.C. Department of Corrections, Lorton, Va. with 20 years service.

Funeral service will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Byron R. Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
