About	Inez C. Newman, 88, of Vinton, died Saturday, May 6, 2000. She was born November 6, 1911 in Saltville, a daughter of the late Elmo A. Coleman and Ida Oakes Coleman. She was the widow of Robert H. Newman, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert H. Newman, III; a brother, William E. Coleman; and a sister, Ayles C. Brogan. She was a graduate of Vinton High School, Averette College and Radford College. Inez was a teacher for many years and is best remembered as a second-grade teacher from Mt. Pleasant Elementary School. She was a long-time member of Vinton Baptist Church. She was also a member of The Vinton Historical Society, the V.E.A., and the Roanoke County Retired Teacher's Association. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, William G. Newman and Dr. Ann M. Newman of Charlotte, N.C., Thomas C. Newman and Judith W. Newman of Vinton; a brother, Gordon F. Coleman and his wife, Ruby B. Coleman of Roanoke; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2000 at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Dr. William L. Ross officiating with interment to follow at Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Vinton Baptist Church, Washington Ave., Vinton, Va.
