About Edna Cregger Clark, 83, of Roanoke, Va., went to rest in the hands of her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, January 10, 2008, at the age of 83 years. She was born July 9, 1924, to Marie Catron Cregger and Charles Roy Cregger Sr., both deceased. She was the eldest and last surviving member of her siblings, Kathleen Cregger Gwyer, Charles Roy Cregger Jr., Robert H. Cregger, June Cregger Lucas, and Frank A. Cregger. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 61 years, Lewis Daniel Clark; her daughters, Betty Jo Clark Anthony (Joseph L.) and Kathy D. Clark, all of Roanoke; her grandchildren, Kathryn Anthony Brotherton (Matthew D.), of Richmond, Jonathan M. Anthony (fiancee, Alexandra), of Roanoke, Zachary L. Clark of Roanoke, two greatgrandchildren, Devin R.L. Clark and Adeline K. Brotherton; two sisters-in-law, Susan B. Cregger and Jerri Prather Cregger; and a number of well loved nieces, nephews and special friends. Mrs. Clark was born in Roanoke and grew up in Vinton. After she graduated from William Byrd High School, where she was also a school secretary, she worked at the Norfolk and Western Railway, (now Norfolk-Southern). After she became a mother, she worked for a number of years as a homemaker, PTA president, Bible school principal, Brownie Scout leader, Sunday School teacher and school aide. She worked for the last 47 years at Francis Realtors as an administrative secretary. Mrs. Clark was a faithful member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church for more than 60 years, serving as the church clerk for more than 25 years. She believed in continuing education, taking a number of courses at Virginia Western Community College, successfully completing the training and examinations necessary to become a Certified Professional Secretary, and mastering the art of e-mail and becoming passably computer literate in her 80th year. She was an expert seamstress and and an excellent cook. In lieu of flowers, friends may consider a donation to the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Building Fund or their favorite charity. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at Oakey's Vinton Chapel on Saturday, January 12, 2008, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Eric Spano and the Rev. Edgar Ferrell officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 11, 2008, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 540-982-2221.
