William Michael "Mike" Barrett Sr., 54, of Vinton, departed this life on Monday, June 25, 2012. Mike was the son of William E. & Betty C. Barrett, of Vinton. He graduated from William Byrd High School and worked for G.J. Hopkins, Inc. and Newcomb Electric Company, where he acquired many friends. He loved music and all sports and in his younger days, he played guitar with neighborhood friends. In addition to his parents, he leaves to cherish his memory his sons, William M. (Billy) Barrett Jr. and Samuel E. Barrett, of Roanoke; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 29, 2012, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Dr. William Booth officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. Arrangements by Oakey's Vinton Chapel, Vinson.
