About Carol Ward Moses, 66, of Vinton, went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 13, 2012, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a long and courageous battle with systemic lupus. She was a 1964 graduate of William Byrd High School and a long time employee of Carilion Parkway Physicians. She was a long time member of Midland Baptist Church in Vinton and loved music, flowers, antique shopping and animals but above all was devoted to her family, friends and dogs. She was predeceased by her father, Sterling L. Ward; brother, Russell E. Ward; aunts, Ruth Hennick and Madeline "Sis" Fox; sister-in-law, Betty M. Ward as well as other uncles and aunts. Surviving family includes her mother, Alma M. Ward; beloved husband of 45 years, Robert O. Moses Jr.; beloved daughter, Marcie Carol Moses; brother, Kenneth S. Ward; sister, Jean Ritter (Curtis); nephews, Greg Ward (Jackie), Tim Ward (Devin) and daughter, Peyton, niece, Genise Lalos-Douglas (Shaun); nephew, Steven Goff and Wesley Goff (Marcy); brother-in-law, Ronnie Moses (Wendy) and Marvin Moses; great-nieces, Meghan W. Rochelle (Jacob) and daughter, Emmalee, Ariana Lalos and Alexandra Lalos; great-nephews, Andy and Zachary Goff; beloved faithful companions, Cassidy, Sierra and Nickie and many other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2012, at the Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton, with Pastor Lawrence W. Moses III officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2012, at the funeral home. Special thanks to Dr. Charles Peterson and the staff of Jefferson Internal Medicine for the 17 years of excellent care. Also the family would like to extend a special thank you to the Bedford County Rescue Squad, CRMH-ER staff and MSICU (8th floor) staff especially her caregivers Shanna, Tyler, Stephanie, Jessica and Dr. Michael Chopski as well as the numerous other physicians that provided such outstanding care. Flowers will be appreciated but memorial contributions may be made to Autoimmune Diseases Association at 22100 Gratiot Ave., Eastpointe, East Detroit, MI 48021-2227.
