About Norma Orgain Bragg, 76, of Stone Mountain, Ga., went home to be with Jesus on November 17, 2012, due to pneumonia. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. November 21, 2012, at Mountain West Church. Cliff Gates of Mountain West Church and Michael Shreve will be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Wages & Sons funeral home in Stone Mountain, Ga. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2012. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Wages & Sons Funeral home in Stone Mountain, Ga.
Norma was born in Lunenburg County, Va. on September 4, 1936. She was a graduate of the William Byrd High School class of 1955, and continued on to receive a nursing degree from Roanoke Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She had nursing license in four states and knew she wanted to become a nurse at the age of five. Immediately out of college she was appointed as Head Nurse and Supervisor, and was a leader and mentor in every aspect of her life.
Norma retired as a nurse from Emory Universality Hospital after 20 years of service. Her church and service to her church were the most important things to her. She loved her friends and enjoyed planning and going on trips with the S.A.L.T. group.
Norma is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann Virts Anderson and Phillip Anderson, of Lula, Ga.; son, Michael Mcormick, of Stone Mountain, Ga., Pam and John Bragg, of Johnson, Tenn., Godchild, Cindy Cupp; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Norma is preceded in death by her mother, Alice Richardson Bragg, her father, R.O.Bragg; son, Randolph Bragg Virts; sisters, Karen Claris and Sylvia Mays.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Mountain West Church in Stone Mountain. The family wishes to thank all the family and friends of Norma Bragg for helping and praying during her illness.
