About Lawrence Wayne Clark, 82, of Roanoke, left his earthly home on Saturday June 28, 2014 to repair burnt out stars in heaven.

He was born March 15, 1932 in Roanoke Va. to Bud C. and Mazie Pauline Clark. He graduated from William Byrd High School, proudly served in the United States Navy, and enjoyed working as an electrician for 30 plus years. Lawrence loved his church, blue grass music, gardening, and spending time with his family and pets. He was an active member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, serving as an usher, Sunday School teacher, and on numerous committees; president of IBEW's retiree's group, and volunteered with the Samaritan Inn.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Norma Webster, Fay Liles, and Melva Hylton; brother, Horace Clark.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Clark; children, Gary Clark, Denise Clark-Gray (Mike), Chad Clark; beloved dog, Brett; sisters, Joyce Jean Castelli, Myrtle Hall; brothers, Bruce Clark (Janice), Skippy Clark (Doris), a host of nieces and nephews; very special friends, John and Hazel Ratcliffe, Aubrey and Brenda Barnett, Freddy Gray, and J.C.. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at the V.A. Medical Center in Salem for their compassion and excellent care to Lawrence.

Funeral services will be held 2pm Tuesday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Rev. Robert Stutes officiating. Interment will follow in Bandy Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
