About	Elizabeth Nester, 86, of Vinton, departed this life on October 31, 2016 with family and caring friends near. Elizabeth was born on April 5, 1930 in Vinton, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, G. Roy Nester, Jr., parents, Walter and Alma Harris; and sisters, Joann Harris Taylor and Nancy Harris Hawley. Elizabeth grew up, married and raised her family in Vinton. She raised her family within the Vinton Baptist Church and later attended Beaverdam Baptist Church after moving to Chamblissburg, Virginia. She was a 1948 graduate of William Byrd High School in Vinton. Elizabeth retired as a bookkeeper for Roanoke Animal Hospital. She is survived by two sons, George W. Nester and wife, Janet of Floyd, Virginia and Paul E. Nester and wife, Sandy of Vinton; brother, Walter B. Harris, Jr. and wife, Vivian of Salem; and three grandchildren, Lara Nester Butler of Roanoke, Mark Nester of Las Vegas and Kyle Nester of Omaha. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to a charity of your choice. The family appreciates the exceptional care Elizabeth received as a resident at Pheasant Ridge Senior Living Facility and at Pheasant Ridge Nursing and Rehab. At her request, a private burial will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton. However, a family visitation will be held at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel on Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.oakeys.com.
