About	Joyce Arthur Goad, 82, of Roanoke, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 58 years, William Edward Goad. A son, Larry E. Goad; her parents, Robert P Arthur and Sally Witt Arthur; a brother, Robert H. Arthur and a sister, Freida Gross, have also preceded her in death. Joyce was a longtime member of Garden City Church of the Nazarene where she enjoyed working in the nursery. She was a bright girl, elected valedictorian class of 1953 of William Byrd High School, and she was the bookkeeper for her husband’s carpentry business. She was talented in crafts such as crocheting, knitting, macramé, and quilting. She was always baking and decorating cakes for folks and even made wedding cakes. Most of all she loved being with her family which includes; daughter Sandra Goad Sowards and husband, Tony, son, Greg Goad and wife, Patty; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sister Lois Smith (James); brother, Roger Arthur (Gail) and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 12:00 noon Friday, April 21, 2017 at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel. Pastor Steve Gordon will officiate and interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers please consider memorials to Garden City Church of the Nazarene. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel.
