About Inez Virginia Harper Flora, 92, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.

Inez was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lottie Harper; her husband, Charles N. "Bob" Flora; her brother, Thomas A. Harper (Leslie); and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Annette Harper, Joyce Harper, Dale Harper, Neil Milliken, Kathy Harper, Ruth Sink (Curtis), Alvin Flora (Eloise and Marie), Lloyd Flora (Reba and Polly), Bennie Flora (Ruth), and Marlyn Sink (Pat).

Inez is survived by brothers and sisters and their spouses, Kersey Harper, Ronnie Harper, Sylvia St.Clair (Gerald), Dawn Harper, Larry Harper, Lana Farley (Jim), the Rev. Terry Harper (Cheryl), Vickie Milliken, and the Rev. Mark Harper (Renae), along with many nieces and nephews.

Inez was born in Blue Ridge, Va., and grew up in Roanoke, Va. She graduated as Salutatorian from William Byrd High School. Inez married the love of her life, Charles N. "Bob" Flora on December 19, 1958. They were married for 65 years.

Inez started her working career at International Harvester. She then worked for Wheat First Securities as Vice President for many years until retirement. She was also very involved in her church, East End Baptist. She taught a children's Sunday School class for more than 60 years, along with Vacation Bible School and GA's (Girls' Auxiliary). She was very active in WMU (Woman's Missionary Union) and sang in the choir. She was also involved in the Baptist Children's Home as a board member.

Inez and Bob enjoyed traveling the world including places like Kenya, Africa, several European countries, an Alaskan cruise, a European river cruise, and many destinations in the United States. She also enjoyed traveling with Bob to many Bonsai Expos.

A special thanks to her caregiver, Dottie Roberson, who provided excellent care and companionship to both Inez and Bob.

The Funeral Service for Inez will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Mark Harper performing the service. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
