About	Evelyn Marie Scott Smith, 95, of Henrico County passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 25, 2024. "Tootsie" was born in Roanoke County on March 3, 1929, to the late Van Cleveland Scott and Edna Eliza Scott. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William Bain Smith., and by her two brothers, Paul Scott and Hubert Scott (Reba) of Roanoke. She graduated from William Byrd High School in Vinton in 1947. She, Bain and their son moved to Henrico in 1959, where she resided until her death. Although born in the shadow of the Blue Ridge, the mountains never left her heart. She is survived by her son Richard B. "Dick" Smith and daughter-in- law Jane Atkinson Smith of Henrico; granddaughter Sarah Stewart (Michael) of Richmond; grandson Dr. Drew Smith (Libby) of Mount Pleasant South Carolina; sisters Mrs. Rachel Hall (Lawrence) of Vinton and Mrs. Nora Saul (Harry) of Boones Mill; seven great grandchildren; and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be held at Westhampton Memorial Park in Henrico on Friday October 11, 2024 at noon. Evelyn loved animal of all kinds, so in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the animal welfare organization of your choice.
