About | Jerry W. Henley, Sr., 62, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 1, 2013 following a brief illness. Jerry was preceded in death by his father Walter L. Henley and his beloved grandparents.,Walter G. Henley & Lula F. Henley. Jerry never met a stranger, he was a fun loving, kind and gentle man. He had a great passion for music, especially "oldies" and had a beautiful voice. He was an avid sports fan and loved NASCAR. He will forever be in our hearts and on our minds. Left to cherish his memory are his mother Katie Henley of Roanoke, his devoted wife of 30 years, Lana Sue Henley, his daughters, Tabatha Kromer of Rocky Mt., Va., Amy Davis & husband Brian of Pittsburg Pa., and his son Jerry Wayne Henley, Jr., and wife Andrea of Wilmington, N.C., six grandchildren Danielle, Derrick & Deanna Cromer, Andrew and Katie Davis and August Wayne Henley. Two great-grandchildren Ashton Young & Alaya Gills. A sister Wanda Howell & husband Curtis, four brothers, Mike Henley and wife Sue, Larry Henley and wife Judy , Ricky Henley and wife Mary Jane all of Roanoke, and Danny Henley and wife Bonnie of Moneta. Special Sister-in-law, Gail Williams of Roanoke and numerous nieces and nephews. Also, the Broughman Family- very special friends for many years. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Surgical ICU at Lewis-Gale Hospital for their kindness and excellent care given to Jerry during these last difficult days. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 3650 Cloverdale Road., Roanoke, Va. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Robert Clark of Mineral Springs Baptist Church will officiate with a family gathering following the service at Mineral Springs Baptist Church, Vinton, Va. |
