About	Joan "Johnnie" McAllister, 73, of Bonsack, Va., lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, August 24, 2010. As a co-owner of Pretty Pets Dog Grooming of Blue Ridge, she cherished taking care of dogs and their owners. She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. McAllister Sr.; her mother, Luella Branson; and brother-in-law, Dave Fowler. Survivors include two sons, Mathew B. McAllister and his wife, Katie, and William R. McAllister Jr.; grandchildren, William R. McAllister III, Lennon G. McAllister, Molly S. McAllister, and Jake McAllister, and a grandson due in September; two sisters, Gay Fowler and Sharon Barton; niece, Jenna Moran; nephew, Michael Williams and family; and very special friends, Amanda Whitley, Linda and Lonnie Blount, and Carol Ann Tilton. The family expresses a special thanks to all the Doctors and Nurses at Lewis-Gale Hospital that have been taking great care of our mom over the last several years, including Dr. Fintel and Sue Melton. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2010, at Oakey's East Chapel with Dr. Ken Scoggins officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 27, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Those wishing to make a memorial, please consider the American Cancer Society or the S.P.C.A.
