Carson Linwood Shaver, 76, of Vinton, passed away March 30, 2006. He was retired from Weddle Plumbing & Heating after 39 years of service. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict with the 393rd Field Artillery and was an avid lover of sports. He was preceded in death by his parents, G.B. and Duvall Shaver; sisters, Garnett S. Campbell and Pheroby S. Cyphers; brothers, Cecil Shaver, Ivan Shaver and Kenneth Shaver. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Sue Mitchell Shaver; daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Chip Bolton of Vinton; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Timothy Bolton; brothers and sisters-in-law, N.C. and Doris Shaver of Orlando, Fla., Gerald and Shirlie Shaver of Colfax, N.C.; aunt, Cassie Fralin of Bent Mountain; sisters-in-law and husband, Norma Jean and Curtis Cooper of Vinton, and Betty Mitchell of Roanoke; numerous nieces and nephews. A special thanks to all of his friends for their continuing support and especially to Steve and Jo Ann Lonker. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 10 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2006 with the Rev. Dr. William R. Booth officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Vinton Baptist Church Debt Retirement Fund and will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 982-2221.
