About	STIFF, Russell Edward Sr., 69, of Kannapolis, North Carolina, died Monday, February 4, 2002, at North East Medical Center, Concord, N.C. He was born May 24, 1932, in Tazewell County, Va., to the late Eugene Stiff and the late Mary Alice Brumley Stiff. He was retired from A. K. Steel Company in Ashland, Ky., and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Joan Greenway Stiff; three children, Sharon Guacheta of Roanoke, Va., Russell Edward Stiff, Jr., of Blue Ridge, Va., Susan Wolford of Russell Springs, Ky.; sister, Mary Frances Tennent of Kannapolis, N.C.; three brothers, Paul F. Whitley of China Grove, Eugene C. Stiff, Jr., of Rock Hill, S.C., Earl G. Stiff of Jefferson City, Tenn.; two stepchildren, Danny Ray Beam of China Grove, Rita Faye Smith of Mooresville, N.C.; and five grandchildren. A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, N.C. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Whitley's Funeral Home. The family has requested that memorials be contributed to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216 Glen Allen, Va. 23058-5216, or N.C. Lions Foundation, P.O. Box 39 Sherrills Ford, N.C. 28673. Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, N.C., is in charge of arrangements.
