About	Carlton Eugene Ryan, 80, of Roanoke, died Friday, January 15, 2010, at Lewis Gale Medical Center after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his son, John Ryan; mother and father, Thelma and Artie Ryan; brothers, Artie Jr., Thomas and Robert. Carlton graduated from William Byrd High School, and then graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech. He served in the United States Army. Mr. Ryan retired from Hayes Seay Mattern and Mattern after 36 years of service. He was a member of Cave Spring Baptist Church and the Pilot's Sunday School Class. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jeanette Ryan; his daughter-in-law, Wendy Munro and her husband, Steve; two grandsons, David and Mark Ryan; granddaughter, Rachel Munro; sister, Nancy Prince and her husband, William; brother-in-law, Thomas Wells; sisters-in-law, Margaret Henderson, Patricia O'Neal and husband, Jay, Clara Ryan, Delphia Flippen and husband, Roger; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held 12 noon on Monday, January 18, 2010, at Oakey's South Chapel, the Revs. Chad Coleman and Kyle Osborne will officiate. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the staff of Lewis Gale 5 West and South Roanoke Nursing Home. Memorials may be made to Cave Spring Baptist Church in his memory. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 17, 2010, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131.
