About Evelyn Louise Reynolds Clasbey, 79, of Salem, went to be with the Lord in Heaven surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 10, 2008. She was born on January 9, 1929, and was preceded in death by her mother, Marguerite Reynolds and twin sister, Ellen Basham. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Since 1991, she volunteered at Lewis Gale Medical Center, gathering 6000 hours of service. She retired from General Electric and was a member of First United Methodist Church since 1959. She was also a member of the Salem Senior Citizens 49ers Club. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Earl W. Clasbey; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Louise and Donnie Jones, Franklin County, and Beverly and Neil Blake, Roanoke; grandsons, Bryan and Sherman Jones, both of Franklin County, and Jesse Slaughter; granddaughter, Marguerite "Rosie" Slaughter, both of Roanoke; niece and nephew, Linda and Bruce Watkins, Roanoke; their son, Daryl and wife, Stacy Watkins; and daughters, Logan and Brooke Ellen; and their daughter, Melody and husband, Neil Holthouser; and children, Molly and Max; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mahlon and June Clasbey, Roanoke; aunt and uncle, Dr. Thomas and Myrtle Sinclair, Wilmington, N.C.; and a number of cousins. The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem Saturday, January 12, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, January 13, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Lotz Salem Chapel at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 14, 2008, with the Rev. Mike Houff officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund or a charity of your choice. Arrangements by Lotz Funeral Home, Salem, Va.
