About	Roy Floyd Whitmire, 74, of Seattle, Wash., passed away Thursday, October 30, 1997. He was a retired Merchant Marine Captain. He served his country during World War II. He retired from Sea Land Service Corp. He was predeceased by his parents, Veritas F. and Addie G Huff Whitmire of Vinton; and brother, Charles W. Whitmire of Roanoke. Survivors are his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Joe Keeler; sister-in-law, Virginia D. Whitmire; nieces and nephews, Carolyn W. Miller, Patsy K. Greer, Don Whitmire of Roanoke, and J. T. Keeler Jr. of Midlothian; and good friend, Patti McCloud. Memorial service will be held in Seattle, Wash. Ray's request was to be buried at sea, which will be handled by the Neptune Society.
