C. Ellsworth Garnand, 70, of Roanoke, died Saturday, October 12, 1996, in a Charlottesville hospital.
He was a member of Belmont Christian Church, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, World War II, a retired law enforcement officer for the City of Roanoke, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lakeland Masonic Lodge #190 A.F. & A.M., Kazim Temple of Shrine, and Scottish Rite.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Lorena Burton Garnand; son and daughter-in-law, Clinton E. Jr. and Dione Garnand, Jacksonsville Beach, Fla.; mother-in-law, Madeline Burton, Roanoke; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen and Hank Kilby of Roanoke; brother-in-law, Harry S. and wife, Phyllis Goggin, Vinton; several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 12 noon, Monday, October 14, 1996, with the Rev. Mike Barnes officiating and interment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel Sunday, where the family will be from 12 to 9 p.m.
