About Frances Cook Richardson, 78, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 1997. She was predeceased by her husband, J. Luck Richardson, Jr. Born in Roanoke County, she was a daughter of the late Mason L. and Lillian Keith Cook.

Mrs. Richardson was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Salem, and served as Charter Matron of Salem Chapter #161 Order of the Eastern Star. She was the former Director of Admissions for McVitty House.

Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, M. Keith and Doris M. Cook, Bonsack; brother-in-law and wife, Dennis R. and Alene Richardson, Annville, Pa.; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the John M. Oakey & Son, Salem, Friday, October 17, 1997 at 2 p.m., by the Rev. Thomas L. Joyce and the Rev. Jeffrey L. Dorsey. An Order of the Eastern Star Service will be conducted immediately following in the chapel, with interment in Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 1997, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 887, Salem, VA. Arrangements by John M. Oakey & Son, Salem.
