James E. Smith Jr., (Jim), 48, of Charlotte, N. C., formerly of Roanoke, died Monday, February 6, 1995, in Kansas City, Mo.
He was a 1964 graduate of William Byrd High School, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, Past President of Mortgage Bankers Association in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and a referee with the National Federation of Referees Association.
Surviving are his wife, Linda C. Smith; daughter, Heather Dawn Smith; son, Jason Scott Smith; future son-in-law, David Stohlmann II, all of Charlotte, N.C.; his mother, Billie M. Smith, Christiansburg; brother, Gerald E. Smith, Boones Mill; mother-in-law, Mary H. Cundiff, Roanoke; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel 1 p.m. Friday, February 10, 1995, with Terry Hodge officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Oakey's Vinton Chapel Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
