About | DOSS, Ronald D., 42, of Salem, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2003, at his home after a brave fight with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife, Melissa W. Doss and their two daughters, Caroline Renee Doss, age 10 and Rebecca Nicole Doss, age 7; his parents, Curtis and Betty Chewning Doss of Goodview; his brother, Dale Doss and wife, Rita and their daughter, Ellen of Winston-Salem, N.C.; as well as a large number of caring aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, members of West Side Church of Christ, and many co-workers and friends. A 1978 graduate of William Byrd High School, he received his B.S. degree in Finance from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1982. After attending the MBA Program, he entered the banking profession with First Virginia Bank in 1984. In 1989, he was employed as Branch Manager of First National Bank of Rocky Mount, Bedford office. Ron was later promoted to Vice-President of First National Exchange Bank, serving as Branch Manager at both Salem and Roanoke locations. He served as a faithful deacon at Lake Drive Church of Christ in Vinton and most recently, West Side Church of Christ, where he taught Bible classes and was active with the youth group. He served on the Board of Directors for Virginia Christian Camp for many years. A funeral service will be held at Oakey's North Chapel Monday, April 7, 2003, 3 p.m., with Eddy Gilpin, Minister of West Side Church of Christ, officiating. Interment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
