James Gary Barger, 70, of Roanoke, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. He was the son of the late Emory Thomas Barger Sr. and Hazel Virginia Meador Barger.
He was born on May 21, 1953, in Roanoke, Virginia. He attended school at William Byrd High School and for most of his adult life owned his own business.
Gary is survived by his siblings, Virginia Fisher (Timothy) of Christiansburg, VA, Sandra Stevens (Mike) of Roxboro, NC, Lois Lynch (Mark) of Moneta, VA, Van C. Barger (Nanette) of Roanoke. VA and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is great niece Haley Burns and husband Paul who were his primary caregivers for more than a year.
In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by brothers, Emory Thomas (Tommy) Barger Jr., John Alexander Barger, and Robert Wayne Barger and dearest companion Terry W. Henry.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 11:00 am at Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice Care, 2408 Electric Road, Roanoke, VA 24018.
