About	Paul David Smith, 51, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at his home with his wife by his side, after a short battle with cancer. David worked for the Roanoke Times for 22 years and for the last ten years, he worked at Virginia Premier Health Plan. He loved to fish and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. David was preceded in death by a son, Paul Smith; and his parents, Judy Ann Smith and Paul D. Smith; his mother-in-law, Paige Morris; and his stepfather, Doug Smith. Surviving are his loving wife of 30 years, Catherine (Cathy) Smith; children, Michelle Smith and Cory Smith; sisters, Diane Phillips, Cathy Martin and husband, Brent, Stacey Smith and Mark Barton, and Donna Smith and Mike Bush; father-in-law, Michael Morris; brother-in-law, Jimmy Morris; several nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and friends; a special family friend, Donna Ingo; and cherished pet dog, Shadow. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, August 14, 2011, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Tracy Terry officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society , 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106-A, Roanoke, VA 24018. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 12, 2011, and again Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel and Crematory, 540-982-2221.
