Virginia Hannabass Saunders, 83, of Goodview, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 10, 2014.
She was born in Bedford County, July 31, 1930, daughter of the late Edward J. "Ned", and Della Jenkins Hannabass. Her husband, William Carroll Saunders, two brothers; Daniel Wesley Hannabass and Lewis A. "Frog" Hannabass, a sister-in-law, Maxine Hannabass, and a brother-in-law, Buford A White, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Saunders was a Science Teacher at William Byrd High School, she retired in 1992 after teaching for over 40 years.
She loved to travel around the country, she also loved gardening.
Mrs. Saunders was a member of Emmaus United Methodist Church.
She is survived by: her two brothers; W. Frank Hannabass and his wife Barbara of Goodview, Edward J. "Jay" Hannabass and his wife, Becky of Dublin, two sisters; Louise White and Joyce West, both of Goodview, brother-in-law, Jack Lynch of Roanoke, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Funeral service will be held at the graveside 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Diamond Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Ed Sheehan will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8 P.M. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, www.oakeys.com.
