Steven Mark Slan, 34, of Vinton, died Thursday, February 19, 2004, at his residence. Steven was a graduate of William Byrd High School, Class of 1988, attended Virginia Western Community College, graduating in 1990, Summa Cum Laude. He then attended and graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Surviving are his father and mother, Richard J. and Jo-Ann Rigo Slan of Vinton; his brother, Richard A. Slan of Virginia Beach; his beloved cat, "Luke"; his uncles, George Slan and wife Mary, Anthony Slan, Bernard Slan, all of Pittsburgh, Pa., Joseph Rigo, John Rigo, both of Cleveland, Ohio; his aunt, Mary McFarland and husband Terry, of Westlake, Ohio; and several cousins. A Mass of Resurrection service will be held at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, 10 a.m. Monday, February 23, 2004, with Rev. Msgr. Thomas G. Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. A Christian wake service will be held at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, Sunday at 7 p.m. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. 982-2221
