Dolor Daws Slone, 91, of Vinton passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023. He was a son of the late Everette Slone and Vernie May Mountcastle Slone. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Naoma D. Wilkinson Slone; a son, Richard Slone; a sister, Bonnie Slone MacMillan; a son-in-law, Roger Likens; grandson, Bradley Crouch; and his step-son, John Wilkerson.

Surviving are his children, Daniel “Dan” Slone (Janet), Sherry Bell, Karen Bratton (Ronnie) and Melissa Likens; brother and sisters, Donald “Don” Slone (Edna), Darlene S. Mills (Buddy) and Chloris Stover (Dale); grandchildren, Dan, Jr., Chris, Susan, Melinda, Christina, Michael, David, Tim, Sara, Ken, Kari and Kami; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Susan Brown (Keith); special caregiver who Dolor loved like a daughter, Alyshia Smith and her daughter, Sophie; numerous other family members.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 pm, Friday, August 4, 2023 at Lotz Funeral Home, 305 E. Washington Ave. Vinton. A celebration of Dolor’s life will be held at 11 am, Saturday, August 5 at Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton.
