About	James Stacy Johnson, beloved son of James M. (Monty) and Mary E. Johnson passed away on Sunday, March 1, 1992 at the age of 19. Stacy died peacefully in his sleep following a long and courageous battle with acute leukemia and its complications. He was a 1990 honor graduate of William Byrd High School and the Roanoke Valley Governor's School and attended The College of William and Mary as a Monroe Scholar. Stacy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James Alcoy and Anna Martin Johnson. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard E. Echols, Roanoke; maternal great-grandmother, Mrs. W.P. Echols, Roanoke; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many loyal and devoted friends. His friends and his books were the greatest treasures of his life. The family wishes to express appreciation to the following for their continuing care and support: Dr. Lowell Inhorn and his associates; and staff of Oncology and Hematology Associates; Dr. Henry Ivey; the first-floor nursing staff of Roanoke Memorial Rehab Center; the faculty, staff and student body of Arnold R. Burton Technology Center; the faculty, staff and student body of William Byrd High School; the pastors, staff and congregation of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church and of the many other Roanoke Valley churches whose members have regularly included Stacy on their prayer lists. A special thank you to Gail Foley, Stacy's "guardian angel" throughout his illness. A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Byron Wilkinson and Dr. George Wesley Jones. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tercenteniary Fund, The College of William and Mary, P.O. Box 1693, Williamsburg, Va. 23187 or the Leukemia Society of America.
