About	Melissa Ann Bowling, 50, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. Her faith sustained her as she navigated these last two and a half years. Melissa was born in Annapolis, Maryland on January 13, 1973 and is the daughter of Coy T. Bowling and Deborah Royer Bowling. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother Tillman Bowling (Lauren) and special niece Allison Bowling. Other surviving family members include great aunt Eunice Ingram, uncle Robert Royer (Diane), aunt Diane Norris, aunt Mary Beth Dempsey, numerous cousins, and many special friends. Melissa is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents John and Dorothy Royer and paternal grandparents Coy and Elva Bowling, uncle Rennis Bowling and uncle John Royer Jr. Melissa graduated from William Byrd High School and she received a degree from Ferrum College in Business Administration. She worked as the Chief Financial Officer for Virginia Travel Stores. She loved to travel, had an eye for great fashion and jewelry, enjoyed cooking and was a food and wine connoisseur. Live entertainment and the arts brought her great joy and the beach was one of her favorite places to retreat. The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel, 627 Hardy Road, Vinton, Virginia. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 10am at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to The Wayne Theatre, P.O.
