About	Sydney Taylor Rickerson, 42, of Vinton, died on Sunday, November 12, 2017. Sydney was a loving wife, daughter, aunt, niece, cousin, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, and friend. She will be remembered for her big beautiful blue eyes, her vivacious smile, and her contagious laugh, but more importantly, her generosity and compassion towards others. Sydney always put the needs of everyone else ahead of herself and everyone she met became a better person as a result of meeting her. She will also be remembered for her courageous battle with Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome which robbed her of the little things we take for granted in life. She was a devout Christian and a loyal member of First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Roanoke. Sydney loved animals, especially her former cat Sebastian and her two current cats, Gracie and Sheba, but she truly loved all animals and cared deeply about animal welfare. Sydney is survived by her husband and best friend, Kenny; father, Jack Taylor; grandmother, Winnie Lewis; as well as a number of other family members, extended family members, friends, and co-workers. Visitation with the family will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Roanoke with Rev. Robert D. Smith officiating. Refreshments will follow in the church’s Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, Sydney requested that donations in her name be made to First Evangelical Presbyterian Church or to the Roanoke Valley SPCA.
