Shannon Edward Gray, 39, of Vinton, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 6, 1975.
Shannon will be fondly remembered for his fun-loving personality as well as his love of sports. Many will remember "22 Speed" playing baseball and football at William Byrd High School before going on to play baseball at Ferrum College.
He was a loving son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Shannon was preceded in death by his grandparents, E. Herbert Gray, Kenneth and Lois Myers. He is survived by his father, Eddy Gray and Patty; mother and stepfather, Diane Law and Charles; sister and brother-in-law, Cristy and Todd Boothe; step brother and wife, Blake Law and Jennifer, special friend, Maria Dooley; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 2 from 2-4 and 6-8 at Oakey's Funeral Home in Vinton. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at Lynn Haven Baptist Church with Rev. Harry Howe presiding. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers a Shannon Gray Memorial Scholarship will be set up at a later date at William Byrd High School.
