| About | Robert Allen Watson, Jr., 49, of Roanoke went to his heavenly home to be with his LORD and Savior on Saturday, February 19, 2022, following a lengthy stay in the hospital.  He was a 1992 graduate of William Byrd High School, where he was known as “Elvis”.  Robert was a proud fan of Terrier football. He also was a huge fan of the NFL Dallas Cowboys, Virginia Tech football and Alabama football and his favorite activity was bowling. On Valentine’s Day he and his wife, Molly J. Watson, celebrated their fourteenth wedding anniversary in the hospital by ordering dinner from Door-Dash, for whom Robert worked the past two years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Robbie Watson, Danville; daughter, Angel Marie Watson, Roanoke; brother, Roger Huffman, Salem; sister, Michelle Saunders, Johnson City TN; aunt, Harriet Kennedy, Lynchburg, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joel and Vickie McCubbin, Roanoke; brothers-in-law, Jon McCubbin, Richmond, and Matthew McCubbin, Atlanta, GA; and a special canine friend “Sal”. Robert worked for several companies including Kroger at Cave Spring Corners where he worked in the Deli department. He was also self-employed in the lawn care business. Robert was a member of First Baptist Church, Roanoke, where he was on the Church Golf Cart Shuttle Committee, sang in the choir, and sat in the “Amen” corner on Sunday mornings. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 25, 2022, in Faith Chapel at First Baptist Church, Roanoke with Reverends Wayne Gadman and Jay Dove officiating. Please enter through The Crossing. The family will receive friends immediately preceding at 10:00 AM. A reception for family and friends will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Bradley Free Clinic or First Baptist Church Roanoke would be appreciated by the family. |
