About	Mildred Spangler Greer, 73, from Vinton, VA, went home to be with Jesus Sat., Dec. 14, after suffering a massive heart attack. She will be celebrating Christmas in the arms of Jesus. Mildred was the beloved wife and best friend of Bill (William) Greer for 50 years. She was a wonderful mom to Greg (Deena, wife) and Ginger of Knoxville, TN, and provided a Godly example of love and service to others. A special Nana to Caitlin, Caroline and Carleigh Taylor and to Kelsey, Chandler and Claire Greer. She was a special friend of Steve and Jo-Ann Lonker. Mildred exemplified kindness, love, and charity through her daily walk with her Lord Jesus Christ. A member of Bonsack Baptist Church, she attended faithfully for sixty-eight years. Mildred served in an educational position at Herman L. Horn elementary school for twenty-six years. She graduated from William Byrd High School in 1958. Her brothers include Sam, Fred and Gordan Spangler, as well as a sister, Nancy Mae Perdue. Her parents, Samuel and Viola Spangler, preceded her in death. Mildred will be missed for her fun-loving ways, her serving heart, and her sacrificial giving to all. Many will receive a life-giving Christmas gift through her decision to become an organ donor. Arrangements include visitation at Bonsack Baptist on Sat., Dec. 21, from twelve o'clock until two o'clock with a Celebration of Life Memorial service to follow in the church sanctuary. Memorials can be made to the Bonsack Baptist Church Choir or the Bonsack Baptist Church Building Fund at 4845 Cloverdale Road, Roanoke, VA 24019. Seasonal flowers are also appreciated. The Reverend Dr. Robert G. Moore III, pastor at Bonsack Baptist, will be officiating. The family would like to express its gratitude to friends, family, and the CCU at Roanoke Memorial Hospital for their acts of kindness during Mildred's illness and death.
