Janice Fisher Ayers, 46, formerly of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred T. Fisher. Janice attended William Byrd High School and was a longtime employee of the Southland Corporation. Surviving are her husband, David K. Ayers; son, Justin Ayers, London, England; daughters, Amanda Bolen and husband, Christopher, Roanoke, Kimberly Ayers, McLean, Va.; mother, Frances Hubbard Fisher, Canton, Ga.; brothers, Tony Fisher and wife, Kay, Roanoke, Dale Fisher and wife, Trudy, Penhook, Va.; granddaughter, Jasmine Bolen, Roanoke; a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to a hospice of the donor's choice. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2003, at Simpson-Tharp Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Simpson-Tharp Funeral Home. 366-0707.
