About	Donna Fairchild Preissner, of Richmond, passed away on November 28, 2018, at the age of 67. Donna was a three-time survivor of breast cancer and succumbed to a recently diagnosed, rare and aggressive cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). Donna was born on March 13, 1951, in Roanoke, Va., and graduated from William Byrd High School and Radford College. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Ceril Fairchild and Virginia Lambert Fairchild. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Joseph Ernest Preissner Jr.; daughter, Melody A. Thomas, her husband, Greg A. Thomas, and their two-year-old son, Gavin A. Thomas, all of Richmond; also, Donnas son, William S. Preissner of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Gerald W. Fairchild of Vinton and Marshall H. Fairchild of Springfield; uncle, J.C. Fairchild; and aunt, Shirley M. Fairchild of Roanoke; aunt, Doris L. Hubbard of Vinton; and many cousins, nephews and nieces. Donna spent her career working for the Virginia State Corporation Commission and later, the Motor Carrier Operations Division of the Department of Motor Vehicles in downtown Richmond. Since retiring in 2003, she has enjoyed spending time with her cats, RVing throughout the mid-Atlantic, arts and crafts with the Busy Bees of St. Andrews, feeding the neighborhood birds (and more often squirrels), and traveling throughout Shenandoah National Park, to San Diego and to the Rocky Mountains. Donna was best known for her sweet, gentle and selfless nature. She gave generously of her time and love to family and friends and turned many a passing acquaintance into a friend. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday (today), November 30, 2018, at Blileys-Central, 3801 August Ave., Richmond., where her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Flowers are welcome; however, please consider a memorial contribution to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation to fund research for a cure.
